End of Game scenerio
Tie game with .5 seconds remaining and A1 shooting 2 FTs. He makes first and is instructed to miss the 2nd. HC of B says he wants a TO immediately on the miss. On the miss B1 secures the ball immediately and cleanly while B coach is calling TO. The clock operator stops the clock at .4 seconds.
Is this correct? If clock would have run out, would we add time and how much? |

There is no rule in FED regarding the minimum amount of time that has to come off the clock, in any scenario. By rule you can't adjust the clock without definite knowledge of how much time should be elapsed or added. However, philosophically you will encounter many officials who say you have to take at least 0.3 off even though there is no rule explicitly allowing this practice (unlike NCAA-M below). So check your local listings. As for if you would add time - if an official observed the time on the game clock at the sounding of the whistle for the timeout, that would count as definite knowledge. In NCAA-M a minimum of 0.3 must expire when an official immediately signals the clock to stop following a legal touch which starts the clock. Therefore the clock would be reset to 0.2 by rule.
