Are we talking about the video with the last foul with like 3.4 seconds?
Is this the play? Peace

Yikes. Defender wasn't vertical but that's because either a. the ball handler moved him and the stationary inertia of his arms caused them to stay where they were while his body moved, or b. he got hit in the stomach and that caused him to fold. Maybe some combination of the two. Either way, I'm passing on that one.

I was instructed years ago, anytime you go into the chest of a defender as the ball handler and you should not penalize the defender if he is "bowed" by the contact. To me, this would have been a better no call. I can see why it was called, but I would try to not call this foul if I can. Peace

The question is whether that was a foul. |

I think it was a game winner -- so within the last 5 seconds or so of whatever the last period was.

Bob is correct.....it is a jumper at the elbow / foul line. Some people on other sites have compared it to MJ pushing offByron Russell in the NBA Finals...still have no foul...

I don't believe B's collapsing arms were due to contact from A.

FWIW, though, I was taught the same as you with respect to B1 losing verticality with his arms because the initial contact from A1 caused the "bow". In this video, I'm not so sure B1's arms were ever in his vertical cylinder to begin with. Thoughts? |

That is not a foul, just based on the contact, IMO. The contact is on top of the ball.
