Can't speak to his thinking, but I know our mechanic is not to go inside unless the throw-in is at least 1/2 way between the 3-pt line and the free throw lane line.

I personally like to stay outside so I can see the paint and the thrower-in at the same time.

I will only go inside if the throwin would put me outside of the 3-point line.
