2017 POINTS OF EMPHASIS



1) Responsibility on Players to Avoid Illegal Contact

2) Illegal Helmet Contact

3) Sideline Management and Control, Professional Communication Between Coaches and Game Officials

4) Proper Enforcement of Penalties for Violations of the Equipment Rules

Do they ever issue points of de-emphasis? Because to emphasize 1 thing, you have to de-emphasize something else.

I wonder how many coaches will look at #3 and think the officials are the ones that need to be more professional in their communication.

Probably easier to count the ones who DON'T think that.

With that said, I have heard some stories of coach-official communication (both from coaches and from officials) that make me shake my head in disbelief. And I know I'm not perfect either...

Right.

But too many HS coaches think being approachable means taking every last bit of sh!t they're dealing at any time.

I've been told by coaches I respect that I'm a good communicator, but those guys are too. Much easier to deal with people that know how to pick their spots and how to approach officials.
