I was able to freeze the clip at 0.0 and ball is still in her hands...on my computer, the horn clearly sounds after it leaves her hands. Bottom line is this one is razor thin...so I'd defer to the officials on the floor in real time. If we can't determine the "correct" call with the benefit of time, physics, and technology...we certainly can't second guess those living this one in the moment.

Too Close To Call ...

These (below) are not great citations for the specific situation described in this thread, but the spirit and purpose of the rule seems to be that if it's too close to call, the referee counts the basket.

2-13-3: If table officials disagree, the goal shall count and/or the foul shall
be penalized, unless the referee has knowledge which alters such ruling.

2.13 SITUATION: The signal to end the fourth quarter cannot be heard by the
officials. The table officials disagree as to whether the ball was in flight during a
try for field goal when time expired or if a foul occurred before the ball became
dead. RULING: The final decision shall be made by the referee, and unless he/she
has knowledge to alter the ruling, the goal shall count if it was successful and the
foul shall be charged and penalized. (2-5-5)

Those citations are for when there is a timing error.
They don't apply when there isn't one.

Late. Listened to it once. I've seen shots much more open for dispute than this one.

The official is standing right there, but it seems late to me. But that again is why we get paid the big bucks. It is very close and we only get one shot at this call anyway.

I had a tight one on Friday like this and I was confident when I made the call. I am sure video might show it was a lot closer than what I experienced live. But what are you to do?

Peace

Trails call. In real time "sounded" (and that's what she has to go by) like the horn went off with the ball in the air. If you play around with the video it looks like 0.0 with the ball in her hands. Real close. Replay might have screwed them up if the horn isn't in sync with the clock.
Watched a college game about 5 years ago with a game deciding shot. I couldn't decide at home with their slow motion replay and my dvr and 5 angles. Always the tough call when it decides the game.

My initial watch live had it good. Replay clearly shows it in her hand at 0.0, but the official marked the 3 without hesitation and counted it immediately. You can't ask for much more from the C, he was very decisive and emphatic.
