Bobbling = No Travel

A few weeks ago, first half, A-1 passes to A-2, who is moving from the top of the key down the lane. A-2 never gets a decent hold of the pass, and bobbles it down the lane, until he controls it with both hands underneath the basket, and easily scores.

Coach B wants a travel. On my way back up the court, I said to him, "There was no control, coach. That was legal."

My question is this: Is the NBA rule any different? That is, is advantage of "moving" the ball via a bobble allowed to be taken into consideration to be ruled a travel in the NBA?

(Yeah, I know. Save the easy joke about non-existent travelling in the NBA.)

Same rule, but judgement is applied as to whether the player was not in control of the ball. If a player is doing that "on purpose", they have violated the rules.

I've had a similar play to the OP before, and coach asked if a player did that all the way down the court, is it legal? I tell them no, that I would consider that control, but the bobbling in the lane lacked control in my judgement, therefore, no travel.

If the batting is controlled, it's essentially a dribble and illegal for batting the ball into the air and hitting it again before it hits the floor.

In my case, the ball was always on the floor.

That would be legal, IMO.
