Awful table

Last Night the table was awful...the clock folks were adequate but they put a young kid probably 11 or 12 yrs old on the home book and he was clueless. So unfair to put this young man in that spot. We spent tons of time at the table to make sure that we did not let the game melt down while the Tourney director is sitting in the stands yaking and laughing it up!

Maybe as I get older I get less tolerant of this stuff

Luckily I haven't had this problem.

Just do the best you can and every time you look at the tournament director just remind yourself that some people are alive simply because it's against the law to kill them.

Some people are like slinkies... They serve absolutely no useful purpose, but it's still fun to watch them fall down the stairs.

I stopped expecting anything good at any level outside of high school from table people. I just want them to keep the clock running when they should, but it is expected they are not going to do their job adequately.

You cannot ultimately do anything about it, so why get upset?

Peace

maybe 11-12 not the best age. Teenagers can be all over the place, some very good.
Actually, and as strange as this may sound, but sometimes kids younger than 9 do games. They do a great job. Learn fast and attentive.

What level and age was this game? This usually dictates the table skill level.

Most of the problems I've encountered with opposing tables are when they have kids running the show with nary an adult to be found. These scenarios involve sub varsity play and usually the kids involved are players who find themselves cheering instead of working the game with their best efforts.

Email your assigner/state about the issue if it was really bad. I've already done it once this season for a JV game and my assigner thanked me and said if the school didn't fix the issue he was going to take it to the SCHSL.

Long as they can keep track of timeouts and fouls, I don't care how old they are. I've had adults at the table who can't do that.
