Tacko Fall

Anyone had to referee such a mis match at the high school level?

Sure, I see 6-11 or 7-0 going against 6-5 guys all the time. What is the difference between that and 7-6 against 6-10?

As far as the kid getting to play at UCF, he should have attended a school that was certified instead of some charter school or basketball factory. The NCAA is having problems with these "schools" which are popping up in an attempt to make money off these young athletes. Personally, I'm pleased that the NCAA is cracking down on their status and several of them are not being approved.

Might mean more to crack down if they applied rules unilaterally. Do any of us really think schools like Montverde or Oak Hill are really interested in academics? All they do is play tournaments. All the time. It can't really be possible for them to have kids in class unless the prep schools have a diff set of rules. It doesn't really bother me in the least though, as Duke has landed several big recruits from these schools recently.

Normally I'd be all for people, in this case the NCAA, being strict with their rules. I hate it when rules are bent or broken for some. Either follow a rule or change it. You know?

However, if this kid did have that tough a time finding a school, while also trying to find a place to stay (foster parents, or whatever), then perhaps the NCAA should take a stronger look.

I'm betting there's more to this story, though. There usually is.

This isn't a case of a school-shopping basketball professional in waiting, it's a case of a corrupt, lazy bureaucracy too stupid to see beyond its nose. Yes, keep protecting us from honor students trying to find a place in this country.

The NCAA could burn in a fire along with FIFA and the IOC and I wouldn't mourn its passing.

According to SC Twitter, he has been cleared to play by NCAA. Huh.
