I'm sure that the vast majority of pitchers won't bother. And I don't see the big deal; it's not like MLB is mandating these things.

Frankly, I think it's a good idea that there is something out there for those who opt for some kind of protection. The only choice they had before this is the flapless batting helmet like what base coaches wear. Now they've got a more reasonable alternative.
