Rule Interps - who's right/wrong?
Over the last week, I've seen references like the following:
"Wendelstedt does not like the PBUC and MLBUM interps" "WUM interp for a quality throw..." "Not what Wendelstedt teaches (at least in their 2011 WUM)" Does it really matter what Wendelstedt or Evans say???? Shouldn't we be going by what MLB/MLBUM and/or PBUC for the "official" PRO interpretations??? It seems like Evans Annotated Rules used to be the "bible" reference for anything not specified in MLB Rules/MLBUM but now I'm seeing Wendelstedt's name floating around...and there was Jaksa & Roder out there at one time as well??? Sounds like this is all getting confusing depending on which "camp" you fall in to (kinda like the old American League vs. National League). Maybe its time to bring all the rule interps under one MLB/PRO umbrella rather than quoting JEAPU says this or WUM says that and J&R states this? One concern for all of this is conflicting interps for the same rule (ie, RLI?) What do you guys think???? |

If it's in PBUC / MLBUM, that "trumps" the others.
The others are "authoritative opinions" -- more likely to be right than yours or mine, but just opinions. You see Wendelstadt more now because they came out with a book a few years ago. |
