My 16 year-old, who'd going into his second year of umpiring, was amazed at the negative reaction from folks (not sure if it was announcers, print afterwards, or what). I'm paraphrasing, but he said something like "What do they expect them to do, cancel the game? Plus it's ST anyway!"

Never noticed it until you brought it up. Now I'll never unsee it, just like Joyce's "arms behind the back between pitches."
