what do we do as umpires if the pitcher mound does not meet the specs. according to the rule book.It gives the specs. in the rule book but there is no penalty .This is brought up at the plate conference before the game starts .high school federation rule

Once the game starts, we leave it.

Before the game -- if a coach objects, heve the mound fixed. If it can't (or won't) be fixed, and the coach still objects, don't play the game. Let higher-ups (conference, state, etc.) determine the penalty.

who does the measurment to determine if the mound does not meet the specs.it would take a servay crew to do it

It takes a string, a line level and a ruler.

Most schools would have these available.

Pitcher's mounds surely vary from field to field. Who is carrying a tape measure, level, etc. to confirm that it doesn't meet the NFHS specificaitons?

Why is the coach complaining? Is it a safety issue or could it become one? Don't play on it until it is repaired.

Just your regular coach belly-aching? Play Ball!

...and report the infraction to you state association.
