Just when you think you've seen it all

I saw a very interesting umpire the other night. I stopped by to watch an U12 game and the umpire was a gentlemen I had never seen before but he kept things interesting from my perspective. The list of incorrect mechanics is too long to mention but some of the highlights include: 1. Louder calls on swinging strikes than called strikes 2. Making a call at every base even though he had a partner 3. Saying "Listen up, the count is full, bases are loaded" 4. But the best of the night when when a player slid at home when and there was no throw to the plate. The umpire "made" the player clean the plate. |
