Just when you think you've seen it all
 

I saw a very interesting umpire the other night. I stopped by to watch an U12 game and the umpire was a gentlemen I had never seen before but he kept things interesting from my perspective. The list of incorrect mechanics is too long to mention but some of the highlights include:
1. Louder calls on swinging strikes than called strikes
2. Making a call at every base even though he had a partner
3. Saying "Listen up, the count is full, bases are loaded"
4. But the best of the night when when a player slid at home when and there was no throw to the plate. The umpire "made" the player clean the plate.

Interesting. For the better part of three decades, I've been opining that November is too important to pretend that they aren't.

How much does it pay? There are probably some MiLB umpires that will come to your home, and do it for free.
