I wouldn't be "looking" for balks. Call them if they occur. If you start "looking" then everything looks like a balk. If you see something out of the ordinary while calling balls/strikes, then pay attention to that. Some crew work that the BU watches from the waste up, the PU watches the feet. Just the other day had a game where the pitcher was turning his shoulder slightly to first with man on. I never noticed from 60+ feet. Then around the 4th inning, I noticed it, watched for it and balked him. Problem fixed. No one hooted or hollered. It just caught the eye. |
