Proud Daddy!

Not an "umpire" topic, just bragging!

I always told my left-handed son that if he worked hard at pitching, and everything else he did in life, that one day his dream would come true and he would stand in front of thousands of people on the mound at Comerica Park someday.

Well, we received notice just about an hour ago that my son, Army SPC Benjamin Chilson, has been chosen by the the Detroit Tigers to hand the game ball to the starting pitcher at the game on July 7th. He is being recognized upon his return from a year-long deployment at a combat outpost in Afghanistan. I'm super thrilled and super proud! Move over Verlander!

Awsome!

Make sure someone else is taking lots of pictures, so you can enjoy the moment. Then, post a picture here.

Congrats, and please thank him for his service.

Please tell your son, "Congratulations and Thank You for your service"

Veterans have done more for this Country than anyone ever has and rarely get thanked for their efforts.

As an Army father-in-law, I echo the thoughts of other posters. Many, many thanks to Benjamin and his brothers-in-arms for their sacrifice and service.

That one too, as well as the United States. I enlisted at age 17 because I was a proud American and wanted to do my patriotic duty. How about you? When did you join up?
