It certainly is different for how long you have been around, how you conduct yourself on the field, how approachable you are, how you interact with the players, how you demonstrate your rule knowledge, how you control the game, how you make decisions in tough situations, how you hustle and a quite a few more things too.

But, having a short fuse and a fast finger gets you far less repect than you may think.

If you take the time to excell at the above-mentioned list, your not going to be tested as much as you think. That doesn't mean you won't have to pull the trigger. But when the time comes, the players will know that their teammate is gone because you gave them enough rope to hang theirself with.

IMO, thats a good official.
