Malicous contact question
Question about malicious contact rule. Baseball Canada rules. R2 is trying to score on a single to RF. The catcher is right in front of the plate when the throw from RF sails over the catcher to the backstop. The catcher jumps to try to catch the throw and lands on the plate. R2 puts his shoulder down and runs over the catcher. The plate umpire called R2 safe and then threw him out of the game for malicious contact. There was no argument from either side but we started to wonder after the game if R2 should have been out. The contact occurred just as he was touching the plate. How do you rule that?

Depends on rule set. Some say if it occurs after the runner touches the plate, score the run and eject him.
Others say runner is out and eject him. Canada rules? Does that equate to OBR? If it does and no local rules say otherwise, then score the run and eject the runner. It all depends upon the rules being played under.
