Something unrelated but that I heard during the same game. A line drive landed two inches foul behind third base. The replay was shown and the announcers commented on how close it was to the line. Then I heard something incredibly stupid from the color comentator (I know I shouldn't be surprised). I think it was Dennis Eckersley, he said "the ball passed over third base, that would make it a fair ball". I expected the play by play guy to apologize for his partner's incredible ignorance of the rules. But after a pause, they changed the subject and that was that.

Well, at least they were smart enough not to keep going and go in another direction then.
