Red Sox v Oakland 7/27

Anyone see the throat guard HPU was wearing in this game?

Check the highlight reel at about 30 seconds, here: Baseball Video Highlights & Clips | 07.27.09: Red Sox slam the A's - Video | MLB.com: Multimedia

I've never seen this one. Maybe a custom but anyone know where you can get one?

Just curious...

A retired hockey goalie?

That's the throat protector for a HSM.

A lot of fashion comments on the forum today.

I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I belive that is Gary Cederstrom. He has had that mask/guard/Darth Vader look for about a year or so. It is just a typical hockey goalie throat guard, available at most sporting good stores (at least in MN the State of Hockey!).

Does the thing protect him? That is all that should matter. It looks no different than a helmet if you ask me. If those are accepted, I can live with this throat guard.

Peace

It reminds me of the cone you put on your dog so he doesn't lick his wounds.

You don't mean the "cone of silence."

Did you say something, Chief?

I said, do you hear that echo?

What?

ECHO, ECHO, ECHO!!

Oh, yes, I heard it that time.

Something unrelated but that I heard during the same game. A line drive landed two inches foul behind third base. The replay was shown and the announcers commented on how close it was to the line. Then I heard something incredibly stupid from the color comentator (I know I shouldn't be surprised). I think it was Dennis Eckersley, he said "the ball passed over third base, that would make it a fair ball". I expected the play by play guy to apologize for his partner's incredible ignorance of the rules. But after a pause, they changed the subject and that was that.

Well, at least they were smart enough not to keep going and go in another direction then.

And you probably haven't been hit with a bat in the side of the head like Kerwin Danley... yet...

I'd still wear some type of throat guard if I wore an HSM, too.

F2 in Monday's game took a ball in the neck / throat. He was okay after a couple of minutes, but it would have been a non-event if he had a dangler.
