There was starting in about 2000 or 2001. I have a shirt with the MLB logo on the back. The shirts and jackets MLB wears now are Majestic.

The umpires in the AAA PCL have worn Honig's since at least 2001.

Thats true - the Honig's shirts and jackets with the MLB logos ended a while ago - maybe 5 or so years.

MiLB switched to Honig's after +POS started having trouble and finally went out of business.

I'll sell them for $100 each including shipping or best offer. The black one has #7 attached to the sleeve. Guessing it might be removable, but I'm not entirely sure.

I just don't like it.

The one time I really needed a jacket, and didn't have one with me (read: idiot), was when I had a Julian game one May afternoon. In the morning and early afternoon I was at the beach, frolicking in the 75 degree sun-bathed sand, hitting on chicks, etc. At 1:00 PM, I left the beach, went home and cleaned up, and headed for Julian, which is about an hour's drive northeast from San Diego.

When I got there, it was 27°F , with a wind chill of 9°. It was snowing/sleeting with winds gusting to 50 MPH blowing straight in from center-field. Carl, Julian's head coach, after he got finished laughing at me for not having a jacket, loaned me one of his team jackets (a fuschia/gold combo), and I went to work behind the plate.:o

Carl continued to remind me of that day for the next 15 years whenever I worked any of his games.

You really can surf in the morning and snow ski in the afternoon here in southern California.:cool:

Hell, you can do that HERE in Chicago without having to travel! :p

Y'all need to get away from this mentality. Wear what looks good to you, and stop goosestepping to what your "heroes" wear. More often than not the only taste those guys have is in their mouth.

I like those "smock" jackets only in long sleeve form, and not 2 sizes too big.

They used to not be convertible back when they were first introduced years back, but then they were modified as you see them today.

They're just plain ugly. Yuck.

First time I saw one of these jackets was at one of my son's games. (Mens league)

I thought the base umpire was just wearing one of his regular jackets and it made him look unprofessional and sloppy. In my opinion, it went along with wearing his crotch halfway to his knees.
