Mariners Mark Lowe balk?

Im a huge M's fan and no its not a balk, very close, but not one...

I am a huge M's fan, so trust me, the M's pitcher is not balking...pretty funny. The guy "bounces" his hands instead of setting them. I am still efforitng a video clip.

I'm with Joe here...a change of direction is not a stop, and bouncing the hands is a balk. This of course without seeing it, but based on Joe's description, sounds like a balk that isn't being called. The rules are clear about making sure the pitcher doesn't try to "beat the rule" by not coming to a stop.

Anyone that has an MLB.com account can watch this guy pitch in the archives of the 7-23-09 game vs the Tigers.

I have seen several hundreds of MLB pitchers and have not seen this since I have learned the rule (20 years ago?)

Now, my son and I have watched several games from the 1970's and it seems like nobody ever stopped...did the rule change sometime in "recent" memory?

Rex is cool. He's one former player that gets it. I always enjoy interviews featuring him.

Well, because Rex was called "out" enough on that type of play, he figured it out. Rex as a fielder, was also one of those smart enough, to let a fly ball in the infield, with less than 2 out, and a runner on first, drop at his feet and then pick the ball up and throw to second if the runner at first was faster than the batter-runner.
