Hit by Pitch

I had the dish for summer league softball ( FED ) ball skips in hits batter, send batter to first. Between innings I was talking to my partner who commented about it being different in Baseball. (not hbp if hits ground ) I told him it still was. I can not find it in the rule book. Please help. Thanks. Fed rules.

The only thing a pitch that hits the ground can't be is a called strike.

8-1-1d batter becomes a runner when a pitched ball hits his person or clothing

2-28-4d A pitch ends when the ball becomes dead.

a pitch does not end when it hits the ground.

2-28-4:
A pitch ends when:
a. the pitched ball is secured by the catcher,
b. comes to rest,
c. goes out of play,
d. becomes dead,
e. or the batter hits the ball (other than a foul tip).

Quit looking, it is fundamental. If batter is HBP and was not swinging he goes to 1B, unless he made no effort to avoid, or worse, leaned into it, unless, it was ball 4.

Yup, it's a HBP even if the pitcher rolls it up there and it hits the batter, as long as the batter doesn't intentionally allow it to hit him.

DG: I love it when a batter leans into one for the team on ball 4! It's one of life's serendipities.

I had it twice this year when R2 was stealing on the pitch (and presumably would have been successful) but B2 leans into ball 4. So stupid!
