Umpire knee protection?

Looks like the knee wasn't why this PU left. While getting my daughter some Dippin Dots, it seems the PU took a foul ball to the mask. I didn't see that and assumed the knee was bothering him from a couple innings before. But I read in the newspaper that it was a foul ball right square in the mask that sent him out of the game. He was quoted after the game "My head is still hurting and I feel woozy, but I'll see how I feel for tomorrow's (Sunday's) game."

That's my biggest problem. I got in this business for the same fame and fortune you officials did [/sarcasm]. I've got the fame (more than a dozen people now recognize my voice), now I'm waiting (and waiting, and waiting...) for the fortune.
