I wish every high school just played OBR with modifications for run rules, courtesy runners, etc.

Technically, it's desertion, not abandonment, but otherwise discussion is still relevant.

I would say 98% of the time, when a balk is called under OBR rules, everyone is going to stop like it's a dead ball (as in HS).

When the ball is hit and everyone is milling around, remind the guys and say "live ball here men! play it!" This will get the O and the D moving.
