Third strike foul tip, ball gets stuck, believe it or not under the catchers mask. I am under the impression that if the ball get trap in any part of the clothing or equipment it is not a fair catch. It is a dead ball and batter still has two strikes against him. The catcher did not know were the ball was and did not have his hand on the ball. If I am wrong I need to be told.

First:
A foul tip, by defintion, is a batted ball that goes sharp and direct from the bat to the catcher's hand (glove) and is legally caught. (OBR 2.00) This is NOT a foul tip. Next, a pitch that lodges in the catcher's (or umpire's) mask or paraphenalia is dead and runners, if any advance one base. (OBR 5.09(g)) |

"The pitch did not get lodged in the mask, the foul ball got lodged in the mask. "
Sorry. Brain melt down. I forgot half of what I read right after I read it. Can you say alzheimers? |
