I remember watching it when I was a kid. I thought Gronk and his wife were a hoot.

"It's about time, it's about flight, traveling faster than the speed of light."

Coaches agreed that for the second game they would play either an hour or three innings, which was a welcome relief.
I used to coach a freshman team. You can get some bad games at that level, then other days a doubleheader will be over in 3 1/2 hours. The main conference in my area made some changes for freshman games this year. We always play doubleheaders in Iowa, so now both games at the freshman level are 6 innings, and no inning can start in the second game after 1:45. Freshman play at 10:00 am here and there is often a varsity or sophomore game scheduled for 5pm the same day. They need time to do field maintenance etc., thus the time limits.

I would say that the average varsity game here runs around 1:30 to 1:45. We usually start doubleheaders at 5pm and generally finish up somewhere around 9pm. That time includes a 20-25 minute break between games. Of course, I have been at doubleheaders that didn't finish until close to 11pm, but those are rare.

I've had a few of the 1:30 games and one of those 10 inning, 3:30 marathons. I consider anything between 1:30 and 2:30 to be "normal" and will generally say game time was "about 2 hours"

Off topic - I've got Kosciusko at Oxford tomorrow if it doesn't rain out.
Might be a good game, I caught a little of the first game on Friday after my son's 11-12 yr. game. Oxford is good, but Kosy can give them a run if they will get good pitching (and a little help from the umpires ... (g)

Thanks
David

As far as the thread, there are more mismatches in north part of state. You have Tupelo and Oxford etc., and Jackson always has a few good teams, but nothing compared to Petal, Hattiesburg, Oak Grove and of course now Sumrall (what ranked in top 10 nationally).

Thanks
David

Can't argue that.
