New Base Shoes
Hi Guys,
I need a new pair of base shoes. I'm looking for leather...as entirely black as possible (after searching the web for about an hour the only model I can find is a synthetic Mizuno)...and I need a size 10. The search is tough. Plate shoes = very easy. Base shoes, very tough. It's been a long, long time on these base shoes...they look great after a good polish...but structurally, they're shot. My feet are killing me after a game...I had those nice, all-black Reeboks from years ago...nowhere to be found... By the time January/February rolls around, my size will be gone. Any info is appreciated.

New Balance 350's
I been very pleased with the 350's. I have worn for two years. They are available in widths 2E and 4E as well as the standard width. These are available in all black if desired. The model is no longer made but many suppliers still have a good supply. (An "updated" version is due after the first of the year) I will be ordering another pair soon. Good luck on your search.

If you can find the 350s, try them (very light and comfortable). But the problem is that they can only really be found with the white N on the sides. But now's a great time to get some, because they're $25.00 less than the new ones. The new one that Kyle showed looks better, but I don't know about the turf soles. The 350 soles are great, maybe the best I have tried, including the Reeboks. I have two pairs, because I was afraid that the new ones wouldn't be right for me.
This site has 350 mids in 10 EE (wide) or 10.5 D (standard): New Balance 350 - MU350MK - Men's Team Sports They also have them in the low-cut in 10.5 D: http://www.joesnewbalanceoutlet.com/...oeLast=&price= The New Balance site has the low cuts in 10.5 D: New Balance 350 | MU350LK The new ones look pretty cool, except for the soles. The old ones I recommend highly, although I haven't had them long enough to know if they last a long time. Last edited by Kevin Finnerty; Tue Oct 28, 2008 at 10:53am. |

It is very easy to black out the N on
New Balance 350's and 450's. Two or three coats of black Kiwi paste polish guffed with a brush to a high shine. Then coat with Kiwi high gloss liquid polish. I just drown the whole shoe and all the white, including the white/silver markings on the side of the soles, turns black and pretty shiny. They look good until you step on the field. But then again, don't they all?

I used to Parade Gloss my +POS shoes. It was sort of a pregame ritual, and more of a mental thing than actually needing shiney shoes.
Then I got the GD shoes, and just wiped them off with a damp cloth. Viola! Now I've got the 350/450 combination, and just use a bit of leather conditioner on the 450s, and Son-of-a-Gun on the 350s. I have a set of Adidas coaches shoes with a dimpled sole like the new 995s. They have a tendancy to collect Turface and get a solid, slick bottem in wet conditions. In dry conditions they are far better than my 350s. Better traction, and more comfortable. YMMV, but I'll wait for the reviews. |

If the shine was uniform on the shoe it would look nice. I'm having trouble with the shiny front and duller back.

I bought the 350's in a mid top. I wore them last week for the first time at a two day clinic. I don't like them. They hurt the back of my ankels. Size 10,2E. PM me if you are interested, I'll make you a deal.

Ha, Ha, I didn’t exactly highlight the top selling points here. Let me rephrase that. Best damn shoe I have ever had. Nope, just being honest as to why I don't like them. I probably should have got the next size up.
