Does anyone have a recommendation for base shoes? I'm torn between a short-nub like the SpotBilt and a shoe like the Mizuno WaveTrainer that is more comfortable but doesn't seem to have much bite on the sprints into the outfield.
Thanks!

I have the Mizuno Wave Trainers (not the new ones) and really like them. I find the traction to be very good and the shoes comfortable.

I would also look into the New Balance 620's.

When I was in college I worked in a shoe store and learned that there is no best shoe, only personal preferences. This could apply to a lot of other umpire equipment now.

I don't need any base shoes now, but I have tried on a pair of New Balance 250's and they felt real good, so if I were going to buy a new pair that is what I would get. I might even get the high top 250, but that's just me. If not mistaken I believe the NB 250 is the shoe the pros were wearing in 2004.

I never really thought about buying a good base shoe to be honest. I just got a pair from Wally World. Been using them for 3 years now, no problems.
