Numbers, numbers, numbers! We deal with them at work, at home, on the field and now on the forums! It is obvious that numbers give some people a sense of power, others a feeling of inadequacy and others seem to get an almost sexual satisfaction with them!

So to those who "get a rise" out of numbers, I will give you my tally for the season.

High School - I worked more games than I should have but not as many as I wanted to.

Summer - Not enough time to do enough games to make me sick of the heat.

Babe Ruth Regionals - Night after night under the lights, sucking wind with the dew points nearing 90° yet still keeping up with partners and players much younger than I.

Fall - all scheduled games (mine) rained out.

There - I hope I provided enough stimulus to satisfy the multitude of the masses.

106 game plus 19 rainouts (rain dates) from March 18 - August 3. Took (as I usually do) the fall off -- one "alumni" game since.

Interesting. I live in the NW, and only had about 3 rainouts this year. Had 5 other games that were cancelled for whatever reasons.

Blessings from the wifesky allowed me to do 155 games and counting...got rained out of a DH this evening..that puts the rainout total to about 24....probably get rained out this weekend also...

All in all it does have side affects...knees were sore, had to do some physical therapy twice a week before going to the ballpark for 4 weeks..my back is feeling the affects as well...

Glutton for punishment? ...possibly, but I do love the game.

10 softball
(1 state softball and 2 state baseball games)

Grand total: 65

76 and still going, probably end up around 90. Way down from peak of 117 about 4 years ago and reduction is on purpose. I don't count rainouts.

Relaxing year

this was by far one of my most relaxing years, but a lot due to the fact that I moved to different part of the state.

But even having to get adjusted to new assignors etc., still able to have a lot of fun. Let's see had 16 HS dates, and then ended up calling more than I wanted in the summer due to a shortage of officials. Summer league (HS games) we had 14 dates and then another 12 games in state tourneys.

But being new kid on the block it was fun working with new guys and of course dealing with new coaches all the time.

I don't work games in the fall due to basketball.

Thanks
David

72.

The last 4 are this weekend for college wood bat fall tournament.

I really don't how some of you guys work so many games. The thought of working 100+ games has never crossed my mind.

I guess, different strokes....

From 3/22 - 8/31
Spring
11 rec basketball games (finishing up)
6 HS baseball paid scrimmages
36 HS games
7 tournament games
2 state hs playoff games

Summer
12 acme league(hs) games
Rainouts - 9

Total - 63 baseball games

I would do more, but it gets too hot for me in summer in the gear, so...I know, I know,.....I switch to (gulp) mens Slowpitch to finish the summer before football season.
SP games= 110

Football (just to 8/31)
3 paid scrimmages
9 games (peewee)

Well, if we are adding other sports.

I have done about 72 soccer games this year too. Approximately 40 more to go!
