Need an Answer
Just wanted ask what LL rules state as to runners leaving bases to soon.
I ump in the south where we play under Dixie Youth rules. Was presented a situation where a runner left early with the batter getting out at 1st. What does LL rulings say can happen in this situation. Thanks |

Left Early
Quote:
1) If BR is out on the play, the out stands and runner(s) go back. 2) If BR is safe on the play, runner advances only if the following runner 'forces' the preceding runner to the next base. 3) In no case may a run score when a runner has left early. LL has the Red Flag for a runner leaving early.

On a hit, the batter if not out is placed at what the plate umpires judges as the value of the hit -(could be a single, double, triple, or HR) WITH ERRORLESS PLAY then places the runners. Example - batter hits a gapper - fielder makes an error on the throw and all runners score. UIC values the hit as a double - batter goes to 2B, other runners only go a far as pushed by the batter, including home, scoring runs. There is an exception. If with the bases loaded the ball is hit within the infield and the batter is safe at first and no outs are achieved, the runner on 3B is removed from the bases without scoring a run and the other runners move up a base.
