I don't mind if ya stick around, Snaqs. We can always use another good umpire in baseball.

Thanks. It's all I can do to get my wife to not complain too much about basketball season. Now that I'm commuting 2 1/2 hours a day, that may get harder this year.

Of course, the original reference was to the French, which is à propos.

Yeesh, that's rough. I put in a good hour and a half commuting and I'm fortunate enough to have an understanding wife. I do make sure we have our time but we'll see what happens later on considering we are still newlyweds. I don't think I can pull off trying to work basketball this season as well, that might be a bit too much. The extra cash definitely helps though.

Where I'm from, drive-through ATMs have Braille on the buttons. Makes you wonder. . .

Indeed. I would have pointed it out, but I would have had to figure out how to do that 'a' with the accent thingy.

Yes, I know it's called an accent grave.

Accent grave? Why, is French going the way of Latin?

Go open up your Word program. Go to Insert>Symbol. Pick symbol out of symbol chart. Double click it. Select it on the page by dragging over it w/mouse. Control + C to copy. Come back into forum. Control + V to paste. Voilà. It’s like déjà vu all over again.

takes a lot to offend

Was sitting with a group of umpires watching a state championship game and we decided that
a pod of whales
a pride of lions
murder of crows
blind of umpires

life is too short not to laugh

Another trick if you're using Windows is to go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map. This has a list of all sorts of characters, including the a with grave. You can either copy it and paste it into a post or you can type in the number combination and it will appear in your text box.

For example: The key sequence for a with grave is ALT+0224. The numbers are keyed in with your number pad, which is the block of numbers to the right of your keyboard. For à, you would hold down ALT and press 0224 on the number pad and then release ALT.

ñ à ™ ë ΑΩ ...ad naseum.
