NBC Baseball and Coach's Helmets

The NBC website has an article on the front page regarding the new regulation regarding base coaches wearing helmets. However, the website does not mention whether the NBC is mandating the rule as well. Since NBC uses OBR as their primary rule set, will NBC base coaches be expected to wear helmets in the coaches box?

I can't answer the specific question, but is it an OBR rule to wear the helmet? I was under the impression that it was a MLB (and / or MiLB) "mandate" as opposed to a rule.

Its not in the rules posted on the MLB website. American Legion has announced they will enforce the mandate, and I just wondering who else will be following suit.

The coaches' helmet rule was propsed and adopted by the GM's at their meeting and ratifed by the owners at their meeting. It is, I believe, listed as an "adminstrative rule", rather than a playing rule. It will not be in the rule book unless it becomes a playing rule.

Legion has adopted the rule. I'll wager FED adopts it within wo seasons.

Remember, in FED most of the rule changes originate with coaches. They won't be in too big of a hurry to adopt this unless pressured.

FED will follow NCAA if they incorporate a "coach-helmet" rule.

Well said garth. Because it is an administrative order it wont be published. If its not in the rules it wont be enforced. If its that important it should have been put into print. Just my opinion. Balls and strikes baby!!!

Oh, it will be enforced in MLB. Already has been.

$1,000 fine and ejection first offense. $10,000 fine and ejections in all subsequent offenses.

Similar penalites with lower fines in MiLB.
