1st Game

Had my second game of the season and I need to work on my plate game. I'm sure it will come back, but how long does it take for you to get your zone and timing back?

Sometimes it just depends on the quality of the pitching. If the quality isn't there, your strike zone may be wandering and inconsistent or if the pace isn't steady you can tend to lose your rhythm which throws you off and can make for a long day. You just have to fight through it and regain your concentration. Everybody has bad days, and by the end of the game, you'll know. Study the rules, think and walk through situations in your mind, and then just hustle. It comes back. First HS game I ever did I was nervous. Once I got through the first inning, the butterflies settled down, and it was just as I had remembered back when I originally started as a 15 year old doing 9-14 year old games.

It takes a couple games. That's why I HATE it when the early season scrimmages get cancelled because sometimes the first pitches you're seeing all year is a conference game between two rivals, and you can't be at the top of your game for that because of the cancellations.

What I like to do in HS season is to write down what i did well and what i did poorly for each game, so i know what to work on and what to keep doing.
