same here

also, i'll never understand wearing black bags with a navy-based shirt. sure, you could ask "would you wear a black belt and black dress shoes with a navy shirt when dressing up for church?" and i'd answer "no, id wear brown shoes and a brown belt with that"...but black shoes and black belt are a constant of the umpiring uniform -- the shirts/hats/bags are variable. my personal belief is that the bags should be matched to the base color of the shirt (navy or black), and in that respect, black does not go with navy. however, thats just me, and this is an argument that has happened thousands of times on here and other websites and will go on for 6 pages once again.

You'd wear brown shoes and a brown belt with grey dress slacks and a navy dress shirt?

Yuck.

Double yuck.

Look, ball bags are considered an accessory. Thus should match your shoes and belt. Unlike like your hat, which is consider part of your clothing. Basic fashion sense.

Mr. Blackwell

Mr. Blackwell also says to leave your white t-shirts at home. They go with, well, nothing in your umpire closet. It matters not what those gubmas do in the MLB. Remember, they were wearing smocks this year.

could you work the plate without ball bags?
they are part of the uniform for a plate umpire, not an accessory (at least to me)

now its hitting me more that we are men arguing umpire 'fashion' on the internet. i think i need to cancel my comcast internet service soon.
