I am new to the profession of officiating so please forgive me if this question seems silly.
After seeing a question recently on a Q&A Forum regarding NFHS rules there was one regarding numbering requirements of eligible receivers. In the response that was given it stated that eligible receivers must be eligibel in position and number. I am confused !!! The only thing I can find is rule 7-2-5b which applies to the numbering requirements for 5 players of A on th eline of scrimmage. I cannot find anything in this section that stipulates that backs and receivers must be numbered 1-49 or 80-99. If there is such a requirement... A) where is it ? and b) if this is assumed.. wwhy not put it in writing to make the point specific.?? |

Well let's see, since we're talking about passes, let's look in section of rule 7 that contains such rules. Ah, there it is, 7.5.6 states what players are eligible and when.

Based upon your user name that would lead me to think you are either in Texas or Oklahoma. If you are in Texas you are looking at the wrong rule book. You need an NCAA rule book here in Texas for high school football. If your in Oklahoma keep reading the NFHS book.
