Jim,

This is a good point. If you read the agreement when you are signing up, you will note the following paragraph:

Officials: This site was created to help officials around the world seek excellence in their avocation. While there may be disagreements in philosophy, rules, etc. personal attacks will not be tolerated. Just as in any game you would officiate, "disruptors" have no place here. As officials, we must support each other, because very few other people do.

We have not had the problems on this board for some reason so far, but if anything gets out of hand here (as we have all seen happen), please feel free to contact me ([email protected]) immediately. Furthermore, we have the ability to add moderators to the board, which is something that we will do if necessary.

Glad to have you guys around - this is a great resource in bringing officials from around the world together!

Later,
Brad

This seems to be a much faster loading board than the others, too. Gets a bit tiresome waiting for loading at other sites - and then to see some of what gets on there.

I am happy to announce that I am here.

Heck, at my age, I am just happy to announce.

Things have been pretty quiet at this Board. I hope we can change that. Off-season is the very best time to get those sticky questions resolved.

For baseball at all levels (even LL: I have the rulebook, at least) post your questions here. I'll be checking the Board four times each day, so you won't ever have to wait more than 6 hours to hear from me.

Tell your friends that they can get the skinny right here.

Haven't been here much except an occasional glance at the basketball board.

Looking forward to some good baseball stuff.

I like when you register it says

Fans, Coaches, Players, and all non-officials: We have created a separate forum, Hey Ref! / Hey Ump!, to provide a place for officials and non-officials to interact. While you are certainly invited to read the discussions on this board, please save your comments and questions for the Hey Ref! / Hey Ump! sites.

That's pretty neat just umpires. You know we all love our fans and especially the coaches.

thanks
David

I want to explain Gary's "signature." He was one of the umpires I hired for the NBC Southern Regional Tournament -- West Division this past July. After calling 6 innings in 100+ heat, he became dehydrated. I refused to allow him to continue; instead, I grabbed an indicator (Yes, Vriginia, there is still a base umpire who uses an indicator) and finished the game. Coincidentally, four years earlier I also had to sub for an umpire. Each time the Piedras Negras Aggies were involved in the game.

Gary recovered quickly and called free as a third man that evening. He completed his tournament assignments as well.

Of course, I was very solicitious. I referred to him in public and private thereafter as Go Down Gary. When he accompanies me next year to Piedras Negras for the NBC Southern Regional -- South Division, I will refer to him as Go Down Gary.

I am, if anything, consistent.

When I umpired, coaches always claimed I was VERY consistent: "You've certainly missed that one all night."

Greetings!

Found my way here from eTeamz. Even though I've been mostly lurking the last month or so, I've still learned a lot from everyone. Just wanted to let you all know you're appreciated.

BTW, I routinely check eTeamz and every now and then URC. Now I've added this board. Are there any others worth checking on a regular basis (i.e., every few days)?

Hey Papa C, I made it here. Also I had a great time in Cooperstown at the CDP. Hardly wait to get into the rules questions.

Ty:

You need to post a few paragraphs about the CDP. These guys don't know you were invited to a National Tournament there.

Please, share with us.

Looks good so far, Carl. I appreciate the faster speed than at eteamz and URC. Despite the "Agreement" I hope things can still be "lively." While we don't need to go the way of McGriff's, some "friendly" debate can be helpful.

Papa C,

I too am very happy you are here. I just wish I could afford a membership so I could read all the articles. Unfortunately, at $US0.58c, the exchange rate for the Australian dollar makes the cost of membership here about $AUD86.00. While that's probably a reasonable sum for the sort of knowledge and experience I'm pretty positive the articles contain, I don't think my good lady would take kindly to my spending any more on my Internet "habit" than I already do. Maybe next birthday. (grin)

In the meantime I'll include this board on my regular route. I have to say, the speed is WAY up over my first (lurking) visit. [Well done, eUmpire!]

Cheers, mate

Warren

Cool

CDP (Cooperstown Dreams Park) is a national tourny for 12 and under teams. They play on 70' diamonds, 50' pitching hills and 200' fences, and play OBR. The park has 10 fields and they schedule 5 games per field per day. Each week, for 11 weeks, 48 teams are invited to participate (there is some $$ involved). Teams play a round robin series of games Sunday through Wednesday am and single elimination tournament starts on Wednesday afternoon.
Guest umpires are provided with room and board so the only expense you really have is airfare and a rental car to get you around, (unless you come with a team, then you can slum a ride from them. I was a "free agent" but I did get a ride from the Utah team). For more information get on the website www.cooperstowndreamspark.com if you want more first hand info email me at [email protected].
