I am all for trying new things but what the mechanics do not address is the difference between wood vs. metal I do not know about you but I almost "bought the farm" a couple of times off of shots from a metal bat. I almost got hit the other night in fact. As a result I find myself setting up in a "deeper B and C positions" to give me a little more reaction time should an 18/19 yr. old get a hold of one. What I have seen "suffered" somewhat is the pick-off plays at first. If you are in a "deep B" it's difficult to get a REAL good angle on the pick-off at first and as a result the runner(s) for BOTH teams gain a slight advantage. In a nutshell what's your take on umpire mechanics when Metal is used as opposed to the traditional wood Thanks Pete Booth
