2. How many coaches were on this team? Both the manager and assistant were dumped. if there were no coaches left, then the game should have been declared a forfeit at that point. 3. A written report of this game should have been filed with your assignor and the President of this league. 4. Good job. Hopefully, the next crew will not have as bad a game as you did. You had the guts to do what was right and not simply turn a "blind eye" and let the next crew of umpires deal with the mess. You'd be surprised how many umpires allow these types of shenanigans to go on unpunished. Pete Booth |
The problem with Bob Davidson is that he knows the balk rule a little too well. Every little ticky-tac balk that most of us ignore, he would call. That is how he earned his nicknames of "Balk-a-day Bob," and "Balkin' Bob." He never met a balk he didn't like.:)

2. One assistant was left, reluctantly taking the reins. 3. Report by phone after the game, written report delivered the following afternoon. 4. Thank you for your kind remarks, the same to all who posted. Until recent posts here, I had never considered how my handling or mis-handling of a situation could affect those umpires who follow me. I am keenly aware of it now . |
