Ball hits plate, then batter

12U game. The pitcher throws a pitch, it hits the front corner of the plate and hits the batter (sharp bounce, 90 degree change of direction). The runner from second runs to third. I called a dead ball, awarded the batter first base and sent the runner back to second. I was by myself. Did I get it right?
