Interference
1 out, runner on 2nd.
Sharp hit ball, runner on second holds and then takes off. 1st baseman touches 1st base to retired the BR. 1st baseman tries to make a play at 3rd. The retired BR and 1st baseman collide. It was in my judgment that the retired BR interfered with the 1st baseman, and in my judgment could have made an out at third. I ruled the runner at 3rd out as well due to the interference. Your thoughts? Also, as a retired runner, are they entitled to anything? Thanks. |

As I envision the play, I likely do not have interference. I don't see this as any different from legal (whatever that is in the rules set being used) contact at second on an attempted double play. |

This depends on where F3 was at the time of the contact. If he'd touched the bag in a manner that gave a portion of the bag to the BR, or stepped away from it after the touch then I have interference. But if he was standing on the bag in a manner that would deprive the BR the opportunity to run through it at full speed I have a train wreck.
