I don't know if all associations in Ohio pay the same (probably not), but in the Elyria Assn., we get $50 per game (regular season). The assigner gets $5 of that. (So we get $45.) It doesn't matter if its varsity, JV, Freshman or Jr Hi. It doesn't matter if it's a doubleheader. It doesn't matter if it's a 2-man crew or if you are working alone. Same deal for softball.

Tennessee HS Varsity rates are set by the state - $60 single game, $80 doubleheader
Everything under varsity is negotiated by the local association, so it varies from area to area. In my association, JV is the same as varsity, so most schools only use one umpire for those games. If it is a Varsity JV doubleheader, one umpire will work the plate for the varsity game and go home. The other umpire works the bases for the varsity game and works alone for the JV game. He gets $100, which is $60 for the varsity game and both $20's for the double header. |
