Doane Clinic
If anyone has attended the Bruce Doane clinic in Grand Rapids, MI - please advise as to the quality of instruction for NFHS umpire with a decent amount of experience (5+ years). The clinic is 5 hrs from my home, but the 2007 dates work for me and I have never been to a "camp" before.
Thanks. |

O.T.
I signed up to attend the 07 clinic based on the recommendation from a couple of guys in my association - including the chair. Last yr was my first doing HS ball -- I think it will be helpful, as I've not had videotaped plate work before. It's also very helpful in moving up the "food-chain" in my assoc, like it or not. |

The clinic director responded that he had people come from Indiana, Wisconsin and Ohio before - didn't mention Illinois, where I'm at, but - oh well. I am still debating on whether it would be worth the drive.

Response From A Clinic Attendee
I attended the Doane Clinic in 2006 and will be attending this year too. The entire weekend was very instructional and the cage work was the best I have experienced. The instructors do not bore you with "war stories" and the automatic registration into ABUA was a great bonus. I am a Varsity High School umpire in Indiana and learned quite a lot from the clinic.

Doane's clinic is the best in this area. I have worked for Doane personally in his college conferences and he is a great teacher. His staff is EXTREMELY experienced with umpires who have been to Omaha for the CWS. It will be worth your time to go. You will learn alot and enjoy yourself.
