I am now the Training Officer here in my association and need some advice. Our previous TO moved a couple of weeks ago and failed to mention it to any one so with me being the 2nd VP in the Assc.,I am bumped up to 1st VP and in charge of training. My first clinic is tonight and I was wondering if any one here had an itenerary on what they have used or would use. We are scheduled for a 1 1/2 hr session tonight and even though most of the people coming tonight have played the game, they have never done any umpiring so I will be taking baby steps with them.I will show them the proper way to signal out, safe, fair and foul plus the way to "sell" and out and safe call. Also the proper positioning in the field and behind the plate. Most will be doing SP but some are going to do both FP and SP.I don't want to overload or discourage them their first night out so any suggestions would be welcomed.
