Thumbs up A Smile From the Baseball Gods...

I worked the plate today for a Babe Ruth League 16-18 district tournament game... first pitch at 5 pm. When we got to our cars after the 1-0, 7 inning contest, the clock read 5:58. This was by far the fastest 7 inning game I've ever called! My previous record was 1:22 or so.

I guess this means I have a 3:30 game on the horizon .

What was the fastest game you've ever called? Longest?

Fastest game I've had was around 1:10. The longest... don't remember cause as soon as I got home, I drowned myself in suds to try and forget about it. Looks like it worked!

Fastest for 7 inning game on the big field = 1:10

I have had several 3:30 minute games in my time. I think that is the longest I can recall. The most recent ones were 10 inning games that were supposed to be 7.

I had a college wood bat game last summer that went 10 innings in 2:10. Score was 2-2 from the 5th until top of 10th.

A Sr. LL game recently -- 1 hour flat.

Adult baseball 9 innings, 1:28.

Last season I had a game go 4:14 -- it ended on a walkoff HR in the bottom of the 14th inning.

Is the adult game the one you and I worked in Phoenix? I was thinking that one we had was that fast or faster, but I don't remember the exact time.

i had a college wood bat DH start at 12:00 and i was in the door of my house at 3:58, and i live 35 minutes away.

4 hours total
-35 mintues to get home
-10 minutes of BSing after game
-20 minutes between games
-------------
2:55 worth of baseball on the field, putting the back to back games around the 1:30 mark each.

Over the last two years I have had at least one Jr. American Legion game go at 1:30 or under (7 innings). I had one two years ago that went 1:20.

Your DH even beat my longest 7 inning plate game ever: HS Varsity, 24-11 final (before the FED 10-run rule era began), 4:16. 3:00 PM start, walked off at 7:16 PM. Pitching was non-existent.

Hmmm,

Shortest : 6 1/2 inning high school game 0:42 (Not a misprint 42 minutes).

Longest: College game 17 innings -- 16-15 5:01 (with an additional 32 minute rain delay not counted).

SDS: In my tri-county area we STILL don't have a 10 run rule.

Regards,

No, it was one I had in Madison -- I had forgotten the one in Phoenix, but we did have a quickie there.

We had a 7-inning game (adult, wood bat) last season here go something like 1:05. Lots of first pitch groundouts and 2 3-pitch innings.

We had the 10-run rule for a couple years, but the California Interscholastic Federation removed it because coaches complained that their pitchers and other players weren't getting enough playing time when the games ended early.
