Sure I would. At that level you are convincing the coaches/fans, not the kid

"My baby would NEVER let a strike go by!"

Let me try.

Punch out = right jab at the pitcher, followed by left jab while retracting right back to chest
Pulling bow = left and right fists go towards pitcher together, left stays out while right comes back to chest.
Start mower = right jab toward pitcher, then retracted back to chest, left fist near chest, not doing much

The others

Punch across body = right cross
Hammer/fist = standard strike mechanic

The only time I don't give a major league punch out is when the kid is one of those who never gets a hit, never makes contact, not very athletic little kids that bat last, and get to play 2 innings per game by rule. You know, the one everyone in the stands roots for to get his or her first hit of the year half-way through the season?

When he or she takes one right down Broadway, I just say "strike 3," and give a basic hammer. The kid has enough to deal with without having a mean old umpire embarass him or her further.

I started out doing Little League. At that level, I was taught not to make a big deal out of a called 3rd strike. i.e., don't show up the batter and make them feel bad.

When I first started at the HS level, one of the first things they corrected me on was to "Punch that batter out, all the way back to the dugout !" "At this level, you are expected to make a big deal out of a strike 3 looking."
