Red face Rules for wearing helmets in LL?

I can’t find it in the book. Is there a hard and fast rule about a runner taking his helmet off before touching all of the bases? Or even before he gets in the dugout?

Thanks,

Brian in MI

No.

Did your player get called out, or did you want the opposing player to be called out?

There's no "hard and fast" rule about taking the helmet off, but it is mandatory that they wear one while running the bases. By this I mean there is no prescribed penalty for removing the helmet, but it's something that should be addressed if they do it continually or simply refuse. The RIM specifically mentions that removing the helmet shall not result in a batter or runner being called out. See 1.16.

Mandatory, but no penalty. Why bother to put the rule in the book?

The penalty after a warning is ejection - and the ensuing one game suspension.
