tagging base with bare hand

Ground ball to F3. As F3 runs towards first base he stumbles and falls. With the ball securely in his glove, he reaches out and touches the base with his bare hand just before the runner crosses the bag.

What is your ruling?

FED, NCAA, OBR

The ruling would be the same as if he touched the base with his bare foot or even his shoe. All rule sets.

Out, all codes. Possible fracture in at least two codes.

My answer to this question (usually by a coach) is always:

"If F3 holds the ball in his glove and steps on 1st, is the runner out?"

The answer is always yes.

"Then were is the question?"

As we know . . .

In FED if a shoe lace hits the base or even long hair it is an out.

I had a HS JV F3 leave his feet reaching for a low throw and tag the bag with a finger. Had fun explaining the rule to the offensive coach (aren't they all?).

Bases empty. One out

Batter hits a high fly ball to he left fielder. He(LF) catches it.

Is that an out?

I'm glad you identified the subject or I might have thought that the batter caught it.

Did another fielder deflect the ball to him over foul territory? Some say that's an immediate dead ball!

The ignore list is a feature for weak people with no impulse control.

Hahahaha,

Speaking of WEAK:

pdxblue still hasn't had the sack to talk to me directly on ANY subject.

And we are in the same association.

Sad, just sad . . .

Regards,

Just wait. His reply will probably be the even weaker "Oh, I talked to you all right. You just didn't know it was me."

Actually, I try to talk to Tim as little as possible. It is usually a very confusing affair.

I surely DID NOT vote for him to be our VP of Rules!

So Tim, why weren't you at the 3 man clinic?
