R2 - umpire responsibilities

with R2, ground ball to infield. i believe PBUC instructs base ump to take the play at first and 2nd play at 3rd if necessary. plate ump stays home - helps with swipe tag at first.

also, with R2, fly ball to outfield w/in the "V", PBUC instucts base ump to take catch, tag up at 2nd and play at 3rd.

are these the same mechanics used in Fed and NCAA?? if not, please advise of differences. thanks.
Thanks.

I can't speak for NCAA mechanics, but our HS association uses the mechanics you described, as well as all other pro school mechanics. They are not taught FED mechanics, with the exception of the Delayed Dead Ball mechanic.

If memory serves, I believe that FED mechanics have PU covering R2 into 3rd after the tag-up. I believe the CCA manual has U2 covering that play into 3rd.
