If Vince Young ran for governor in the next election, he might not win.

But if he ran next week....

Hook 'em, Horns.

The Horns looked good. Pete Carroll needs some basics on game clock management and play calling. The replay system worked very well and we have a new number one in America. What do ya' think Carl, will we ever see replay in MLB games? NCAA CWS games?

Except for one huge play, did you miss that knee being obviously down when Vince Young latteralled the ball to score a touchdown. Supposedly the replay officials had technical problems, but that is unacceptable in a game of that importance.

Vince Young was amazing. He had 467 total yards, that is just sick. That great performance may have pushed him over the edge for entering the NFL Draft.

I like the class that Matt Lienart showed in a brief post game interview.

Leinart: "I still think we were the better team. They just made the plays."

Boo-Hoo..

Tim.

If you don't think like that you won't rise to the top.

BTW, Lienhart and Bush went to the Texas locker room to congratulate them. I think that's class.

Did I miss something or weren't there two other very obvious interceptions that were never reviewed either...one for each team????

I honestly thought the officiating for this level of game was horrible. It seemed that way for most of the bowl games this year: Iowa's game, Georgia's game, and even Michigan's game!

The funniest thing about all of the talk today is the radio guys saying that Vince Young will be the first draft pick. I've gone out on many limbs before, but he WILL NOT be the first draft pick next year. Reggie Bush will go to the Texans and break the Lone Star State's collective heart.

He had a great game, but Bush has proven himself as durable and magnificent for multiple years. If New Orleans snags Leinart, the moaning in Texas will be greater than when Ann Richards was in office.

On another thread a couple guys took swipes at the officiating crew. Those guys did a great job. Yes, some plays were missed but that crew was terrific - and I'm a USC fan.

I still didn't see Carl's reply about replay though. Do you think that we will see limited replay advance to the MLB game?

1. A USC coach should have been assigned to watch game video and signal to Pete when it was time to take a timeout to give game officials more time to study replays. That play was a major snafu for the replay system, not to say that Texas might have scored on the next play, but if reviewed I can't believe they would have upheld the score on this play.

2. I have not heard that Young has declared for the draft but if he has, and Texans don't take him I would be shocked. A QB who can run and throw like he does would be more valuable as a franchise player than a RB. I aslo would not be surprised if the Texans trade the #1 pick for multiple first and second round picks and start building on that.

3. Pete should have punted with just over 2 minutes to play and the ball on the 44 instead of trying for a 1st on 4th and 2 yards to go. With the ball inside the 10 the difficulty in scoring a TD to win the game would have been greater. I know, that is arm chair coaching (I was actually sitting up in the bed by then), but that's what I thought at the time, and still do.

Young is from Houston and would probably sign more quickly than Bush would. I wouldn't bet against Houston taking Young, if he declares (which he will).

Good.
Then my Lions have a shot at David Carr.
Bit I think it's Bush to Houston and a new tackling assistant to Southern Cal.

Houston has too much invested in Carr. They need a running back to help him. New Orleans needs a quarterback like Young, but they are at #2 and not likely to trade up. Matt Leinart goes next unless New Orleans thinks he has proven more by going 25-1 as a starter than Vince Young did.

I know this a bseball board so I'll stop.

What Houston needs is an offensive line that can pass protect. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Young in Houston next season. Carr isn't as good as some might think. The Texans would do well to use Carr to garner some oustanding offensive line prospects.
